04/12/17 DePaul University 15 Today, at a press conference for IL House/Senate Bill HB2353, I (Amy Hildebrand) asked Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Heather Steans (D-Chicago) and Rep. Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) what the best method for supporters of recreational cannabis in IL to get their voice heard at the government level - i.e. calling, protesting, etc. Rep. Kelly said that it was important to tell legislators from all over the state, especially those who might be representing more conservative districts. 04/09/17 University of Limerick 15 Cllr Cian Prendiville announced being opposed to the war on drugs and stated that using the criminal justice system against addicts did not make sense at an SSDP event on campus. Local media reported on the opinions he voiced on Medical Cannabis at the same event. " Anti-Austerity Alliance councillor Cian Prendiville said there is “overwhelming evidence” to support the view that medicinal cannabis has been a “life-saver” for some patients. He said the failure of the State to date to legalise cannabis for medicinal use is “backwardness”."

02/10/17 University of California Davis 30 11/1/16: SSDP Chapter got 2 councilmembers on record (Swanson, Arnold) in support of full legalization of both medical and non-medical cannabis policy within the City of Davis and expressed a desire to shorten any temporary moratoriums in place for the city as well as remove any bans on dispensaries in 2017.
