09/28/16 Columbia University 15 09.25.16 CU SSDP collaborated with other on-campus orgs, including representatives from LUCHA, a political latinx org, and Chicanx Caucus, to host a vigil directly in the center of campus from 11:00 am–7:00 pm. Across College Walk there were foam cutouts of the 44 students that were disappeared in Ayotzinapa (though one would manage to escape, thus the 'missing 43'). The sundial in the center of College Walk held school supplies as offerings, as well as books with information regarding the Drug War's part in these students' disappearance. 3 members from the Executive Board were present throughout the day informing visitors of the relationship between the War on Drugs, the Mexican Narco-State, and the United States in the forced disappearance of the 43 students. 2 of our members, also leaders of Ballet Folklorico—a Mexican and indigenous dance group of resistance and activism—partook in a performance during the Ayotzinapa march on the 26th.
